An old 2001 HP Scanjet 5300c scanner needs a driver to run on Win 7 64 bit 1 year old Packard-Bell iMedia D2525UK computer. Any advice?

HP does not support HP Scanjet 5300c with Win 7 From Win NT 4.0 up to XP Only it seems.

Can you try the XP drivers in Compatibility mode.
This is one of the reasons I will not change to windows 7 (or 8), a lot of my hardware / software does not have updated drivers, only up to XP.

Thank you for that tip Terry, but things have had to move on and I bought a new MFP last Sunday. In any case, the HP scanner was a very last resort, because it had a cloudy glass platen, a manufacturing fault by HP's own admission but which they would not budge over because it was 4 years before I found out. It had to be cleaned all the time to get good scans and was a nuisance in an otherwise good machine. Makers can be devious and in that case HP were.
I might just try it when I have more free time, but right now I'm too busy going to relatives' funerals, it's one of the hazards of old age! Happy computing.
