A dying forum forum perhaps?

Last post here before this thread was 7 hours ago. Very odd.

The majority of my posts are in Helproom, I do venture into Sp Corner now and then but find the tone is not to my taste as you can't really get into a subject before it is spoilt by petty stuff and inane postings (that are seemingly encouraged) - and most of those posters don't give any help with pc problems.

As for site/helproom traffic, don't know how many look but those that do post seem to be getting more infrequent, noticeably so since the last site change.

A lot of Threads seem to want to know 'which button to press' without knowing/understanding what has caused problem (lack of details of system and what led to problem). This seems to be the trend now with Op Sys's as well taking over the 'human input decision' by seemingly guessing what might be wanted as outcome and not giving a popup dialogue adequately saying what effect next button press will achieve.

What's the betting, soon there will be a post telling us how well pca is doing and it's survived the ups and downs and will survive this one... etc. (I've probably just confirmed my place in the moaners club)

lotvic - "and most of those posters don't give any help with pc problems" - interesting point. I tend to give up on the threads in Speakers Corner that have inane posts usually from the same person.

I have been a member here for some time, and I think there are now too many forums. It used to be a Helproom for everyone, but the ethos has changed over the years.

As a relative newcomer to this forum I have noticed that an increasing number of people post exactly the same threads on multiple sites. It may be that they find a resolution from one of these other postings and do not bother to get back to their other threads.

The very annoying Kieffer Sutherland/Acer advert doesn't help either.

Anyone know how to stop it playing every time a new page is loaded?

Peter.

Chronus & rdave13,

Thanks for the advice, but I'm using Chrome; anything to help on Chrome possibly?

I realise the these type of sites need the funding from adverts to survive, but at least on the PC Pro site the advert run, but without the sound.

Peter.
