Sony DC90 HDD DVD Recorder Problem

My Sony HDD Recorder has suddenly stopped playing my DVD's....which as we know in the UK are Region 2........however...it will play Region 4 DVD's. How do i know this ? well i have a couple of Region 4 DVD's which i was given from a student from OZ and apparently they are Region 4 ....So, i hear you can change the Region code on certain players but not this model of Sony ........anyone any ideas ???

Can you reset to factory condition? That may set the region code back to 2

Tried resetting..no joy...i fear the grandkids have been playing about with the remote and may have accidently stumbled upon the code to change region....and these kids are all grown up teenagers....hmmm
