Text jumps when typing in Win7

I have a Dell lap top running Windows 7 home premium.

The problem I have is as follws:

When typing the text suddenly jumps to another part of the messsage that I am composing. I aslo have trouble getting the mouse cursor to show on screen.

That's usually caused by sleeve brushing against over-sensitive touchpad.

If you use a mouse then you don't need the touchpad - I always disable mine. The heel of my hand often rubs on the pad or clicks one of the buttons.
