sim cards are there different types?

The sim in the PAG phone that I keep in the car died through lack of frequency of use.

S I needed to replace it--no problen the Vodaphone were only too happy help I happened tp notive the red coloured card came out and a White one went in I noticed the package and the till printout referred to it as 'Standard White' So I wondered are there other types/colours?
