Chrome no longer remembers history or passwords

This has been going on for months. What has gone wrong? Can one do anything about it?

Unfortunately this didn't work. My wrench/settings in Chrome does not have an "under the bonnet" section.

Check cookie settings in the newer version link, it shows that they are allowed by default. Worth a look.

The problem was solved! Computer operator stupidity meant that settings in Norton Security were wiping history. Simple - why didn't anyone tell me?!!! Thanks to all those that tried to help.
