unable to start in safe mode

HI I have a dell m1210 which has got the live security platinum virus on it,, I am unable to start the laptop in safe mode to remove it please can you help

Both these links for removal start off by saying

Restart the computer in safe mode

which is what the OP can't do.

madyliz - you don't say what does or doesn't happen when you try to start in safe mode. This link shows an alternative method of starting in safe mode - scroll down the page to find your operating system:
