Internet explorer has stopped working

I have an Acer laptop running Windows 7. When I am on a web page and I click on another part of the same web page I get a box saying internet explorer has stopped working. If I click on the details is says Problem Event Name.. APPCRASH Fault Module Name .. KERNEL BASS dll Is it some thing to do with my security settings?? Thank you

ophrys - It would have been nice to have got some feedback on how this was resolved - that way it helps others who may encounter the same problem in the future and are then able to do a search on PCA.

Message for northumbria61,Sorry I did not send info,this is my first post I could not find my way around this forum. The problem was solved by unchecking the box for Enable third party browser extenions. Thank you for you time.Regards James
