wifi printer help

my wifi printer is asking for an 8 digit password,but my laptop wifi is an 7 digit,is there any alternative to resetting my router.

Number of asterisks is not always an accurate reflection of password length.

ie Did you try your 7 character key?

or

How about trying 'password'?

No other ideas sorry.
