I am trying to pair my mobile phone to my PC using bluetooth. The phone has found one device which is my PC but the PC does not display the phone. When I click on the shortcut to Bluesoleil the centre ball says My Device and my PCs name. When I click on Bluetooth file transfer service at the top nothing happens and at the bottom it says no new device found. My phone is a Blackberry Curve 8520 smartphone and I have a Pluscom bluetooth dongle. Can someone advise on how to pair the two items up

had a similar problem with my 8520,came to the conclusion it was the version of blue tooth on either phone or my dongle.I had a similar problem pairing up a Mk7 fiesta titanium with a samsung phone, hence getting a blackberry which i dislike and am about to give it the "wee" treatment i.e. put in my hand and throw it hence as it goes through the air "wee".Next time i'll look onto the ford web site for compatable phones.

Set up your computer to allow Bluetooth connections. If your computer comes with Bluetooth (Or you have a bluetooth dongle), then you'll see a Bluetooth icon in your Control Panel (Start button -> Control Panel): Double-click the Bluetooth icon and you'll see a Bluetooth Devices dialog. Click the Options tab and make sure the options to "Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer" and "Allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer" are both checked.

Next, click the Devices tab and then click the "Add" button. This will open the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard, and after verifying that your device is set up and ready to be found (ie. Bluetooth has been enabled on your wireless phone) it will try to find your phone.

Select the Bluetooth device and click Next to set up a passkey, which is a number that associates your computer with a Bluetooth enabled device. For security reasons, most Bluetooth enabled devices (with some exceptions, such as mice) require you to use a passkey. Using a passkey helps ensure that your computer is connecting to the device that you intended and not someone else's device that is nearby.

You can choose your own passkey or let Windows choose one for you. Click Next and then pick up your phone, which will prompt you to enter in the passkey. After entering the passkey in your phone, Windows will finish the pairing process and your phone will be connected via Bluetooth.

The steps i have given are to setup your computer. You may follow these to do that. And to open up the Bluetooth Devices dialog, double click on the bluetooth icon you see next to the clock. A window will open up 'Bluetooth Devices dialog'. Now follow the instructions given earlier.

I have followed all the steps here and the phone claims to be paired but the two refuse to connect when I try to send from the phone to PC.

Hi Schopenhauer,

If your devices are connected, then follow these steps to send files to your PC.

  1. Open the Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard (Start-> All Programs-> Accessories).

  2. Select Next

  3. Click "Receive a File" then Next

  4. Send a file with your device

Your file transfer would start and you will see a window showing it.
