If a net book is shut down and lid closed but plugged in will the battery still charge up?

[just bought a inverter for netbooks for use in a vehicle cigar lighter socket curies reduced them to less than half price at £13]

not used it as yet, sods law came in and the cigar socket packed up in our transit campervan yesterday before we got home to try it out.

sunnystaines,

My Advent 4211 Netbook still charges, if needed, when the lid is closed, whether in hibernate or standby mode, with the battery indicator showing the charging process taking place.

Once fully charged the Battery Charging light goes out.

Peter.

My Samsung netbook also charges when off. A light also shows red then changes to green when fully charged. Does your netbook have charging lights?

It still charges on my Packard Bell netbook. Light changes from orange to green when fully charged.
