Sound problem with XP Computer

After a driver update (as there was no sound on old XP PC) sound works again however sometimes the last word in a sentence is repeated for instance..... The man went over the hill, hill Its not a major problem but would like to be able to fix it. Win XP

Check to see if you have a sound manager installed. If so check that Sound Effects is set to none.
