I have a full copy of Windows 7, which was on a desktop which I have stopped using. I now want to install it on a laptop but get the message to the effect that it cannot be installed. I have ran Windows 7 advisor and it says the hard drive and memory are good enough. To save going the more complicated route can I just format the drive and install Windows 7 from the DVD?

Yes that is the way to do it, what were you trying to do rather than that?, and what exactly was the error message you were getting?
