Hi Nontek what I mean is that we could choose not to update our database. It affords us nothing but extra expense. But we endeavour to adopt best practices in our handling of YOUR data.
No-one is more embarrassed than I am by the way things have gone this week, and I am sincere in my apologies for the inconvenience caused to each and every one of you. The way this has played out has been unnacceptable. Unfortunately it is a difficult task, and not one we undertake regularly. We will get things right, and in the mean time I appreciate your patience.

Matt
I know you are doing your best, my comment was just out of frustration as I personally can not do anything about it - except Be Patient.

I hear you. To be honest, I'm in same boat. All I can do is keep stressing how important it is that this all gets solved, and buy doughnuts.

It's a killer when there's a frustration and you're powerless. Like Matt, I'm experiencing the same problem, and in truth I have nothing to offer but a request that you bear with us a bit longer. The site is working normally as I write apart from a login issue. No excuses - here's hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Is there also a problem with retaining the Login information as well? At the moment on an iMAC with Lion OSX10.7.4 and Safari 5.1.7, it steadfastly refuses to accept that I am logged in and I have to do it each time I visit. I normally never have to login unless I have done something silly like removing all cookies!!

Yes, it is the same for all of us. Be patient, it must be a nightmare in the backroom - and it's Friday the Thirteenth... as FE says - buy doughnuts. (and be thankful it's not you trying to put it to rights)

I think we should consider ourselves very lucky to have such a popular FREE forum, some other technical magazines don't permit participation in discussions unless one is a paid up subscriber.
Out of all the forums I visit, mainly technical not computer, this has the highest readership and speediest resolution of problems. But nobody can beat the sheer volume of "Discuss the Archers"!! Dum di dum.

I have enough problems with simple queries. I certainly wouldn't like to try and resolve problems with complicated Database issues!!
I'll wait and see what happens in the not too distant future.
Cheers

These magazines are which? I would quite like to have a look and possible join.
