Cannot download/open Yahoo mail Attacments

Pal logs onto Yahoo Mail but cannot download any attachments. Found the problem which was an AVG add-on (ScriptHelper Api Class). Have disabled this but is it completely removable? Also, is it necessary?
Just want to stop him enabling the Add On in future.

You may find that script-helper is part of the new AVG Security Toolbar released in the lastest AVG 2012. You can uninstall the toolbar if you wish.

I believe it is something that AVG are aware of but haven't got around to finding a fix for it yet.
