remote web cam

hi i am giving thought to some home security on the cheap ..i have a little used laptop with a web cam in it, i had in mind to leave this at home running placed in a normal position so it didnt look out of place and was hoping to be able to view this cam at work ...how would i do this and what program would i need ? preferably not to obvious it was runnig

Perhaps a few things for consideration. It doesn't matter how you try to disguise these items in operation, there is usually some form of indication 'that gives the show away', especially to a professional thief. In fact leaving items on view, is a sure invite to some people.
What I would suggest is that you choose a 'self activating' program with a remote recording facility, as a starter.

thanks nontek and spuds for your help the program nontek posted looked the part but was overpriced at £45 i did find a free program http://www.remoteutilities.com/ that did more than i needed but the came across prey project which can track your laptop or phone if stolen http://preyproject.com/ again many thanks for taking time to help alan
