sound problems with radeon 5770 and hdmi

Hi, I have my PC connected to my HDTV via HDMI.My gfx card is a radeon 5770 and running w7 64bit Every so often the sound defaults to the asus sound card,to output the sound via hdmi I have to disable the asus option which is the default setting, then reboot. The PC then outputs sound via hdmi and is listed at the default device. The asus entry is not listed, but realtek is still listed.

This has happened 3x so far. Do I need to remove the asus sound card,or does the asus card require connecting to the gfx card (read that somewhere). Thanks
