I got rid of my ipad 2 as to be honest it was little more than an expensive toy and it really did not do it for me. tried the small laptop route but was not for me either.

Recently came across the above, nexus, and have read some quite reasonable previews on it and I must admit I quite like the look of it. I have very little experience of Android gadgets and was wondering if any one had A). Any thoughts on the Nexus 7? and B). Any views on Android that you would like to share?

"No SIM or SD slot,"

I cannot be the only one who will find this a killer.

Why do you need a Sim slot? It's not a phone. Just tether it to your phone when away from WiFi.

No SD slot? Just connect a card reader through the micro USB.

Because I want it to be, as I need the big screen.

That's why I'm currently using the Galaxy Tab 7.7.

Discovered that Ebuyer are selling them with the £15 credit to spend in the Play store but with the added bonus there is no £10 deliver charge, so pro-ordered a 16GB. Delivery is not for a fortnight so will not be able to give you a review for a while.

Be careful you know what you get in your purchase. It is a very nice new addition to the Ipad range but Google have not yet, it seems, concluded licence agreements for some of the Apps in time for the UK launch. See this report which came out yesterday

I think you mean tablet range as Ipad is Apple the Nexus is Google. As for your link, I neither buy music much these days or films for that matter but thanks anyway.

Pardon my 'senior' moment Chronus --indeed I meant tablet. One of my reasons for making the post was to see if others knew of any more shortfalls in the UK model
