can't open .exe files

When I try to download a files such as one from TrandMicro (HouseCall - Free Online Virus and Spyware Scan)

A small window opens stating from the top:-

Opening HousecallLauncher64.exe

You have chosen to open

*HousecallLauncher64.exe

  which is a: Binary File
  From: http;//go.trendmicro.com

Would you like to save this file

                                   Save File or Cancel

When I click on the Save File ..... Either another window open saying

The file could not be saved because you do not have the proper permissions. Choose another save directory.

         or

Nothing at all happens at all, the window just disappears

Can you please help as I would like to do a virus scan and can't ....

Thankyou Vicky ........... :-(

You cannot look at Properties of an EXE file, its what is know as an Executable file. that starts by double clicking on it. To create a new folder, right click on desktop choose new folder, you then name the folder and adjust the save downloaded files in your browser to that folder that you created above.

In Your Browser look in Options on where to save files

[You won't be able to look at the properties of the .exe until after you have downloaded and saved it.]

is in response to Your post July 3, 2012 at 2:09PM yet another high security problem with internet explorer and you said "All I have to do is now find the file properties for an .EXE ....duh"

The .exe is the one that you are trying to download and save

Have you done the steps in the previous Link? ClickHere to enable FF to download and save the .exe
