Have a look in Add ons and remove it if it is in there.

You should also find a reference in the Control panel / Add-Renmove which you can use.

There are occasions when just removing it fro Add ons doesn't totally work - this article from Ask gives you a tool utility to clear up should you need it. It also tells you how to reset your home page.

Thanks Buteman the icons disapeared when I removed them via c cleaner, however they were still on my browser, Terry, this was the first option I tried, no luck difarn I will try this later if I get the chane, this PC is my brothers he lives a distance away from me, unfortunately he cant/wont try to do this himself he depends on my help and I try to help him via the phone(and Im not to good either lol)

So do any of you think un/reinstall could help as I think he could do this with help on the phone or system restore?

It shouldn't need a system restore and most of the time removing it from add-ons will work:-

Firefox - tools - Add Ons

You could also try:-

Clicking on the down arrow in the search bar - usually after the star for bookmarks

Choose "Manage Search Engines" and from the drop-down list delete Ask

You can then highlight Google and choose that as default if that is what you want.

Sometimes Ask still comes up as the default home page and you can alter this by going into

Firefox Tools Options General Put in the URL of the page you want for your home page -Google or whatever.

Ask toolbar can be very difficult to remove, especially if it doesn't show in the various programs.

Try downloading Revo Uninstaller from http://www.majorgeeks.com, run thatprogram, and see if it finds Ask. Then remove it via Revo, but follow Revo instructions carefully.
