Annoying AVG Secure Search

I am using Firefox as my browser and have always used Google as my search engine of choice. However, whenever I open up the browser I am confronted with AVG Secure Search. I have tried to remove it by making Google my home page and by removing all search engines other than Google but still AVG keeps reappearing, does anyone know how to get rid if AVG once and for all. To my knowledge I have never downloaded AVG and use MSE as my AV.

If you also have IE installed you should clear the Search Engines on there as well. Also have a look in Add/Remove Programs to see if it is there, if so uninstall it.

You could also do a normal Search for AVG as a further check.

Have a look in add-ons and if it is in there delete or disable it.

I have cleared AVG from Firefox & IE, I did find it in Add Remmove so I removed it, it was not in add ons - it's still there!
