Advise please - Annoying re-occurring Outlook Express Message!!

Can anyone offer any advise on how to stop the following message which is prompted via Outlook - "To free up space outlook express can compact messages, this may take a few minutes" The strange thing is i don't even use outlook. I have already done some research and can see lots of others have had the same issue. I have tried to several things to remedy the issue including 1. Accessing the registry editor i have changed the compact count value data to 1 after changing the base to decimal.

  1. within Outlook i have chosen the option to work offline.

  2. I made the mistake of phoning an MS Outlook Support line who were more interested in selling me products and support services - needless to say they were no help!!

Can anyone suggest anything else to prevent this annoying message?

I you are not using OE why would it come up I think it counts the number of times OE is used

Are you using Outlook Express or Outlook?

You may have to edit the registry see Outlook Express message
