Hi, My 5 year old XP laptop hangs on the blue 'Windows XP' screen and does exactly the same when i try to start in safe mode, also the same in 'Last Known Good Configuration'. I do have an OEM XP CD.

Please can i have some/any tips as to what to do?

That motherboard does not have onboard, so it must be a a card.

I have been trying to get the url for the mobo manual pdf but can only get it through google with

p5gd1-fm fujitsu siemens pdf

and it is the top answer.

Download the manual.

and You could have a look inside the desktop pc tower and see what card you have plugged the monitor into, (ready for FB)
