desktop computer really slow and unresponsive

hi ive got a desktop computer which has 16GB memory its really slow at start up and unresponsive all the time plus wot free security/cleaning software will i need keep it clean and safe and run smoothly cheers

What is the spec of your machine and what security programs do you run? What OS is running?

I meant what PC is it so we can find out more about it. What operating system does it use? Is it XP,Vista or Windows 7?
