emachines d620 vista basic laptop connecting to internet

when trying to connect to virgin media hub,laptop says "its taking to long to connect to the internet" and "this computer is connected to virginxxxxxxx but does not have access to the internet." x=virgin media numbers i dont want to put on here. ps. a virgin media engineer once told me to install an arheros network card on the laptop,but i dont know how to do that.

fruit bat yes i can,i tried it earlier.ps if you know one of them sites,ill let you take control of the laptop

Connect a PC /Laptop by cable to the Hub and access the configuration pages on http://192.168.0.1

Enter the Advanced Settings and select Wireless Settings.

Lower the 802.11 Mode to 54g and set the Security mode as WPA-PSK[TKIP]

Reboot the Hub and see if the PC is able to see the Broadcast wirelessly.

If you still can't connect make sure you have the latest available drivers installed for your Wifi adapter
