connecting to a tv

im trying to connect to a tv.i have the correct vga cable. when i try to connect with a netbook it shows the external monitor/tv but i cant do anything else, and when i unplug the cable the tv icon disappears.

Please don't use your email address as your user name it could mean you getting lots more spam etc.

Not only do you need a VGA cable but I think you will find that you will need an audio connection.

But a few more details as to what exactly is happening would help.

Have you tried toggling from LCD to TV with the Fn button + one of the F buttons (not sure which one as they vary - should be obvious from the marking on it)?

P.S. - yes, you do also need an audio cable such as this
