Green Screen when playing DVD

I am using Windows 7 with a nVidia GE6200 graphics card. Everything works well except that when playing a DVD in WMP12 I get sound but a green screen. Avi files play satisfactorily. I have tried several codecs but have difficulty in understanding the myriad of options available. I would appreciate help from anyone who has experienced and resolved this problem.

Many Thanks ICF Your programme worked a treat. Would still like to solve the WMP problem and feel sure it is something to do with the codec,
