Watching HD content on HD laptop

Dear all

I have a laptop bought recently which is very high spec. Not the best graphics card but has a good one. 8gb ram and I-7 processor.

Anyway, when watching HD content on the laptop it tends to "judder" a bit. When showing high detail. Almost like its slowing down. This happens whether its a video on my computer (from HDD) or streaming hd vids from youtube. Do you know what it could be? Like i say, it shouldnt be the laptop spec as its quite a decent one (see below). Perhaps I need a proper HD video player? Or is this down to the screen refresh rate (which is normally 60hz for a laptop). I remember when buying my TV I went for 100hz to avoid a similar issue.

Specs: 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2670QM processor 2.20 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.10 GHz Memory : 8192MB (2x4096) 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel Hard Drive : 1TB (2x500GB) Serial ATA (5400RPM) Dual HDD

Thoughts appreciated.

thanks
