what do's it stand for ????

hi just a quick one, I am looking for a camera,14pix and about 16 zoom, seen one pan-lumix tx20, seems ok but price, now i see that they advertize 4x 0r 5x, what do's it mean, 4x 5x 6 x ect, is it 4 times it self so 4x =16 ??? thanks yama

The Pano-Lumix is 24mm at the wide end, so 24mm x 16 equals 384 at the telephoto end

4x = Optical Zoom. Ts20 has 16.1 Megapixel CCD image sensor.

I like Panasonic, but also like Fuji .. having recently bought a Fuji S4000 which has 30x Optical zoom and 14 Megapixel.
