this morning i get an ongoing message from allegedly microsoft saying i have a runtime error, it was alright when i closed last night , have run a full mbam sweep which found nothing any ideas? Xp pro sp3 etc

Check in tools- internet options- Advanced tab that the box is ticked for Disable script debugging.

thanks for that tip but it is ticked, also ran chdsk /f this morning and nothing found problem still occurs every time i open a page in IE8, starting to look grim

no, all it says is,microsoft visual c++ run time library in the blue heading of the box.

then a red cross in the corner. goes on to say runtime error.

program:c:\program files\ internet explorer\iexplorer.exe

followed by abnormal program termination
