Fixing corrupt files

I had a few cases of "Internet explorer has stopped working", Looked up the problem and am following MS advice in stages.(W7,64bit) Have latest Video drivers. Ran Sfc/scannow. This reported some unfixable corrupt files but when I tried to open the text file in windir\logs\CBS\CBS.log Access was denied. How to proceed? I have the CD etc.

Once you fix yours you can come and fix mine.

I don't suppost ipconfig /flushdns in command prompt will help.

I don't suppose pressing reset in advance would help.

Are you getting the same problem on the 32Bit I/E as you get on the 64Bit.

I take it you are having the same problem on both.

Sometimes running sfc more than once is needed.

Thanks, glad you have seen this! In W Explorer, C\windows\logs\CBS\CBS.log. When I right click & try to open it , I get "access denied". I then right clicked, "Properties", Security - then not sure how to get admin privileges. BTW did another sfc\ SCANNOW and still got message" Windows Resource Protector found corrupt foles but was unable to fix some of them" . The PC seems to be running mostly OK.

PS to get this log into Word, I looked on seven forums. I you open the Command prompt as an administrator and copy and paste the code below after the prompt, it puts a txt document onto the desktop, and you can choose to open it in word (much easier than notepad default);

findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt"

Thought this may help others
