Message from AVG

I keep getting messages from AVG saying Firefox is using large amounts of memory, this is usually when I first start up Firefox with just one page open. Around 400mb is the figure quoted. AVG suggests shutting down Firefox and restarting.
On running AVG PC Analyser it highlights a number of problems such as registry errors, fragmentation. Junk files & broken shortcuts. I've no intention of buying the 12 months PC Tune Up from them which is suggested as I run CCleaner on a weekly basis.
Is this a scam from AVG?

AVG is reporting that Firefox is using a lot of memory. Open task manager and then open Firefox, that should confirm the memory usage. Check which version of Java you have installed. Sometimes updating will solve the problem.

In AVG, goto Tools, Advanced settings, and untick Display AVG performance notifications.

Have run task manager, this shows everything to be ok. Java was updated a few days ago. Will do as Old mod says and disable the performance notification.
Many thanks
