Install new software and later remove

I have much software recently purchased which offers programmes in direct competition with Microsoft Office.

Is there a convenient way of installing this new software to trial it in such a way that if I wish to uninstall it can all (or part) be removed without leaving endless trails within the computer potentially slowing down its operation?

My desktop operating system is Windows Vista.

Much software comes with its own uninstaller. There's also, of course, add/remove programs in Control Panel. Although I have not personally used it, many on here recommend Revo Uninstaller which is said to most completely eradicate all traces of software that you've uninstalled.

I often use Sandboxie to test programs I am unsure about. If you wish to nmake it permanant on your system you can or just remove the box and all traces are gone.

For complete confidence, why not take an image backup (Acronis, Easus, Paragon, etc.) to an external drive, before you test the new software and then you can restore the backup image if you don't like the new software?
