Memory Stick Reformatting

Friends, what do I do with an AXIZ memory stick that refuses to be re-formatted? I can no longer access my stored data it contains; I tried reformatting it, losing all the stored data and starting afresh, but each time I start reformatting it a message pops up saying: "Reformat cannot be completed" or something like that. What do I do with it? Throw it away? Even if it were right-protected, there's no switch on it anywhere to flip over and see what happens. Please help. Thanks.

surprisingly enough this message often occurs when the drive is too full
something to try is wiping the disk with an eraser program (CCleaner has a wipe drive facility)
then format it on completion.

Thanks, but it does not seem to have a facility for cleaning the flash drive (drive F in my laptop))? I can only see the facility for cleaning the hard drive (drive C).
