Cannot Boot from CD to install XP

I have been given a PC to fix. I was told it had a virus and that nothing was worth saving. I said I would wipe the drive and re-install Win XP I used DBan autonuked easy as pie. Then put the XP CD into the drive and rebooted to re-install. Nothing happened, it was waiting for "Multibay Device" I tried to alter the boot sequence but it seems I can't. Its a second hand Hewlett Packard Compaq that has all the right stickers on it saying it had XP on it before.

Any advice ?

N47. via yellow envelope - that doesn't work anymore, we can't PM on this new designed forum :( you would have to 'arrange to meet' on a different forum that does have that ability.

geoff47, I don't have any suggestions to try at the moment, will keep thinking but there are others on here that have far more experience than me that are posting advice.

I have spent some time downloading Ubuntu again, discovered all my spare CD's were full, although had nothing on them......it has been one of them days/jobs.

Found an old version of Lubuntu and installed that, he can have that or lump it.
