Firefox launch problem

I'm having a problem with firefox since its last update. When launching it I get the pop up that says "checking your add ons for compatibility" then 2 tabs will open one with goggle as normal and the other with "welcome to firefox" I just cant get this to stop. I have tried disabling all add ons and installing and re installing firefox but it's just the same. I'm using XP Home.

sounds like a corrupt profile

can you create a new one and delete the old one?
