Playing Real Player recordings

For some reason when I try to play back my recordings. Real player informs me the screen resolution is only 8 bits and it looks like it too. it helpfully gives a srceen to readjust this. this has no effect and anyway the screen is set 32bits when not in Real player. I have reinstalled Real Player it has not cured the problem. Any ideas anybody. David
