i need to upgrade the memory in a hp compaq dc7600 small form factor, the memory at the moment is 2x256, and the stickers says pc2-4200u-444. i was just about to buy 2x1gb but the description is PC4200 DDR2 533Mhz.

I've never really undertood the difference in the types of memory, these ones seems right, but im unsure as the ones i have now say 44, and the ones i want to get say 533, any help would be great!

thanks

Your best bet by far would be to go to the Crucial web site and let its memory scanner do its work. It will identify what memory you need - and, if you buy from them, they'll guarantee it's the right memory. Crucial have an excellent reputation in memory - and while their prices are slightly higher than no-name stuff, with the price of memory at present, you'd be foolish not to go with Crucial.
