Microsoft Essentials Anti Virus

Resolved

Windows 7. Having used the likes of security systems Kapersky, McAfee and others over the years, I have been recommended to try the free Microsoft Essentials anti virus software. Has anyone experience of this and what is it like, for example its impact on the system start up time, and its general effect on system running speed. I posted this elsewhere and was advised it is more appropriate to the Helproom. Thank you.

This is worth a reminder should you already use CCleaner and have now installed MSE. Piriform, for some reason, have programmed CCleaner to remove part of the MSE History files and it's deleting the files MSE checks to determine the last time a scan was conducted. As a result you may notice the MSE system tray icon turns from green to orange, which indicates you have not run a scan for some time, even though you do on a regular basis.

To prevent this happening, open CCleaner - Applications - and remove the ticks in boxes for MS Antimalware and MS Management console.
