PC Fan is dislodged and I do not know how to refix it to motherboard

Hello,

The fan in my computer had become unattached/dislodged from the motherboard and I need fix it down to the motherboard. I am not sure how to do this and was wondering if someone could help me. When I start my PC I have to press F1 to boot it into windows and the PC does not want to start with the fan not working properly.

How this happened: The PC was dropped during a move and the fan became detached from the motherboard. It has been since just sitting on its own, and I'm not even sure if it is working properly.

If anyone could explain how to attach the fan, that would be great.

Also since the PC has been dropped my wireless internet has been quite unreliable, I'm not sure if this is related. It still works when used with an ethernet cable.

This looks like the case fan that has been dislodged ( cheap as chips to buy PCWorld).....I would forget the clips....replace the fan where it was originally & look to see if there are holes in the case that correspond to at least two if not all four corner holes on the fan.....then use self tapping screws from the outside of the case to secure the fan PS make sure you have the fan the right way round...it needs to suck air out of the case !!!

Thanks for your help but this has not become a much bigger problem!

I clipped the fan back to the heatsink as advised, tested that it would work okay by turning the power back, whilst the case was still off and PC on its side. It worked fine but after about 10 seconds the clip facing one of my cards flung off and hit the card right next to the heatsink. There was a spark and the PC shut down immediately and now will not turn back on

I think it's the graphics card as that is where i plug my monitor plugs into the PC...? Is it possible i've damanged more than one component here?

I am no idea which component is broken now and have arranged for the PC to go into repairs. What a nightmare!

Thanks for your help though! Feeling quite gutted now as the PC cost me £800 and i am broke at the moment.

Check all the fuses first, including the one in the mains plug.
