HP PSC 1410 Printer Problem

My HP PSC 1410 only prints the caption and the coloured logo on the test page. Why can't it print the rest of the page or indeed any other documents using Word. The obvious thing to assume is that it needs a black ink cartage, but no message has appeared saying this.

Sometimes the obvious thing is correct - yes, it needs a black ink cartridge. I'm surprised you managed to go through the cartridge alignment procedure correctly.
Here is a set up manual to guide the cartridge installation

I was expecting a message saying that black ink cartage required changing. This always happened with previous printers I used.

You should be able to check ink levels from the Printer Toolbox - find it via Start = Programs = HP = PSC 1410

I've just been told that this printer printed out a receipt from a website. So wont it only print the caption and Windows logo on the print test page or a Word document?
