Belkin Easy Transfer Cable

I've used one of these several times to transfer from XP/Vista to W7 with no problems. The packaging specifies this is what it is for. Anyone know of any reason why it couldn't be used to transfer W7 to W7?

I don't know of any reason apart from what it says here in this Link The cable must be connected between two computers, an "old" one running either Windows XP or Vista on one end and another running Windows 7 on the other end.

Windows 7 already contains the Windows Easy Transfer program. So both computers will be set up to run the transfer without installing the Belkin software. In this manual you will find an option on your "new" computer which states My "old" computer is running Windows 7

So you just need an ordinary transfer cable and use the Win7 system software on both machines.

Yes, Belkin software has to be installed on the old computer first (I guess it's the same as the WET for XP that can be downloaded from the MS site), so I was wondering if that step was missed on a W7 computer, and the built-in WET used instead, the cable would be suitable for W7 to W7.

'Spose the best thing would be to try it on a couple of PC where the loss/coruption of data wouldn't matter.

Sorry SeaUrchin - our posts crossed. I missed that bit in the manual, but looks as though this cable should do the trick using already installed software. Many thanks.
