external hd to i mac g4

hi when i connect my external hard drive to my i mac it doesnt see the files.....i was told something to do with ntfs? can u help thanx

My understanding is that Mac's with OS before 10.3 cannot read ntfs format. I guess that you have an external hardrive with files put on it from a Windows system. You probably need to convert the harddrive to FAT32. You may be better off going to the Apple support communities.
