DVD combi drive dead.

My Samsung DVD combi drive won't open and is not shown in device manager. have run all the Microsoft fix files , and checked the registry files as shown in previous topics. Question is will a dead drive still show in device manager or not. new drives are cheap but would please like to know the answer

No a dead drive will not show in device manager

bad power supply / cable, bad data cable will give the same effect so before scrapping drive swap cables.

Thanks checked cables are ok , will buy drive.
