Just in case anyone is looking for an alternative to Win Explorer Giveaway of the Day has XYplorer free today. It appears to be a lot more flexible and usable than Win explorer though I will admit to only using it for the last couple of hours. XYplorer

Ian in Northampton,
A replacement for Windows Explorer, NOT Internet Explorer.

Not a replacement just an alternative.
Without Explorer the computer would not work.

What about using your browser (Firefox or Chrome) as a file explorer? Try typing C:\ into the address bar. I find it useful if I want to perform a search.

You may find that you can reinstall the app after the allotted day has expired. This is a pretty portable app and you may find that just copying the installed folder (probably Program Files\XYplorer) to a back-up device provides enough for a reinstall at a later date (i.e. just copy it back).
