Using phone as modem/router with JoikuSpot- How can i help bandwidth?

Hi. I am using my Nokia phone and the JoikuSpot software to allow my laptop to access the internet. The connection speed is very very poor even thought my phone 3g signal is almost 5 bars.

My questions are: 1, Is there any way in which i can lower the quality of the screen/web page so that the laptop doesn't need as much bandwidth (so would speed up my browsing) 2, Has anyone any idea if buying the full version of JoikuSpot would help my speed issues? (I've looked on their site but speed/bandwidth doesn't seem to be mentioned:

use the Opera browser with turbo enabled,slight loss of image quality in return for speed and lower data usage
