Will a Sata 3 Hard drive work on a Sata 2 Motherboard?

I understand Sata 3 is backward compatible with Sata 2. So will a Sata 3 Seagate HD work if plugged into the Sata 2 port of an Asus motherboard using the included Sata 2 cable? Will there be any problems/disadvantages apart from the HD only performing at Sata 2 speeds?

Sorry that posted all by itself, I am answering from the iPad,had a quick look and you have Sata 3 connections on the mobo. Ebuyer does not display particularly well on the iPad so I'll confirm later unless someone else does so before me.

"6 x SATA 3Gb/s port(s), blue" (i.e. SATA II)
Can't see any mention of SATA III ports on that motherboard. But yes, it will still work.

Sorry D@ve is quite right. Getting a little muddled in my old age. But you will not have any problems.
