Is there a free utility that will tell me what drivers need updating. Any I have found require payment

The best is Free Advice, don't mess with your drivers unless you really have to. Then go to their own update page.

You can use Driver Max free but it will only update 2 drivers a day.Don't download any unsigned drivers as Microsoft reacts badly to them.

Maybe download SIW and it will tell you what you have on your computer and it is just a matter of going to the makers site's that rawprawn mentioned and downloading them from there.

If device manager is not showing any problems I would probably leave the drivers as they are.

I know that the likes of graphic card drivers device manager does not show updates for them but they can be updated from the proper site.
