VHS unable to record now

Since analog transmissions stopped, my friend's VHS recorder can't record. He asks if a digital set top box could be used.

I use the aerial output to connect the VHs to the tv if you have a spare scart socket then use that

the reason I connect aerial input is that most VHS recorders used to boost the signal.

Ian in Northampton I record to analogue DVD recorder through an STB with out any problem. The same would be true of a VCR. The STb receives the digital signal and outputs analogue.
