help how can i re-install

my laptop will not start the mesage on the screen is ( the folowing file is missing or corupt) \ system32\ ntoskrnl.exe. please re install a copy of the above file. i donot have a disk or a copy of the file, can i down load it to my main p.c. and link to my p.c. to do the repair.

You do not say what your operating system is Xp, Win 7, Win8 ??.
